Champion Long Gone Nixon

Champion Long Gone Nixon is the only setter male in history to place in BOTH the North American Woodcock Futurity AND The Grand National Grouse Futurity (Nixon also placed in The International Cover Dog Futurity). Nixon's decisive wins of the Bill Kearns Open Derby Classic and the White Mountain Open Derby Classic (both on wild birds) added luster to an already enviable record. "Nick has won on quail, grouse and woodcock! "Nixon" was born in May of 2000, so he was "giving up" a lot of age to his contemporaries, thus his wins were even more impressive. Nixon placed in all age stakes this spring, while still a derby!

Nixon is short coupled and very fancy moving, he points with great style. "Nick" is tri colored. He is a particularly strong bird finder, with wild birds being his strength. Nixon has a loving and very mellow demeanor. He does not bark! Nixon is a strong breeding dog with his pups looking very good at this point, with lots of color!

Triple Futurity Winner Ch. Long Gone Nixon is out of the only 4x Ch. setter female in the history of the grouse woods, Ch. Long Gone Agnes. "Nicks "daddy is The Legendary 5 time champion, Ch. Grouse Ridge Reroy. At this writing, they have an even dozen championship titles between them !

Nixon placed in the first open shooting stake he ran in. He continues to win as an adult with wins on both wild and liberated birds. Nick placed in the prestigious Phill Fogg Open Shooting Dog Classic on Cape Cod this spring. He was awarded the coveted "Foss Throphy" for this win. This was very rewarding as it is the fourth generation of our dogs we have won this award with. 1977 Long Gone Stokely; 1990 Class Attack; 1994 Long Gone Bill; 2003 Long Gone Nixon. This is given to the dog the judges most would like to go hunting with. Nixons' pups look very good with lots of natural pointing desire.

Recent news :
Nick was the Runner Up Champion at The Empire Open Walking Shooting Dog Championship in New York State in May of 2004. In the spring of 2005, Nixon won the Region One Amateur Walking Shooting Dog Championship over a strong field.
